Pitcher Aly Rayle led the No. 4-ranked George Mason University’s softball team to its first-ever A-10 Conference championship on Sunday, May 14.

Rayle finished the tournament with a 4-1 record, with four complete games and two shutouts, against No. 2 Loyola Chicago. The Herndon, Virginia, native is a master of global commerce and policy student at the Schar School of Policy and Government.

Along the way, she recorded 39 strikeouts in 33 innings and, with three other Patriots, was named to the A-10 All-Championship team.

Rayle was also named Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament and conference Pitcher of the Year and first-team All-Conference.

Rayle received defensive support from fellow Schar School student Charlotte Montgomery, a rising junior in the government and international politics degree program. Montgomery, who is from Orlando, Florida, played outfield and provided reliable batting at the plate.
